LIMU MANAUEA

Limu Manauea (Gracilaria coronopifolia) is the edible Hawai’ian variety to Limu Ogo (Gracilaria parvispora) commonly found in Limu Poke throughout the state. It is a Red Algae grows naturally in the shallow subtidal area. The Waimānalo Limu Hui is working in partnership with Ānuenue Fisheries Research Center to cultivate and out plant limu Manauea within Waimānalo bay to increase its availability to limu practitioners in hopes that one day it will be common to the island diet.
