The 2nd year of the Variety Showcase was held again at Chris King's Fabrication Headquarters and had 210 attendees. Invited were organic seed breeders, farmers, and researchers from Oregon, Washington, California, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, to share their varietals. To help introduce these varieties to the consumer and to make the event palatable, a selections of Portland’s top chefs were paired with each breeder to create a dish to showcase a particular variety. The event is a catalyst for important conversations about organic seed production, seed sovereignty, biodiversity, and the future and flavor of food.
